Through the use of specific software, Aretè creates 3D digital models of artefacts or complexes of varying nature and scale: from pottery to monuments, from archaeological contexts to ancient landscapes.
A 3D model can be produced by NURBS or mesh modelling. The former is an algorithmic method for the construction of “free form” curves and surfaces, generated from segments of curves. Mesh modelling, also known as “polygonal knit” modelling, is achieved using a set of vertices joined together by triangular-shaped planar surfaces, and is used for the representation of complex three-dimensional reliefs, such as statues or terrain.
3D modelling can be the output of an instrumental survey or a reconstruction based on philological criteria.
